blokje Lapland

Lapland covers an entire area in the north of Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. A good quarter of Sweden is called "Lappland", and is the home to the Saami. The Saami have their own language and traditionally live with herds of reindeer, a main source of income. The reindeer provide milk, meat and hides and are also used for pulling sleighs during winter.

Three museums are located in the village: the Polar caravan museum, the hunting and fisheries museum and the local museum depicting early settlers and rural life. A chapel in the church holds the life size 'last supper' by the artist Carl Milles.
